Moderate Earthquake Hits North Indian Ocean

KUALA LUMPUR, April 12 (Bernama)-- A moderate earthquake with measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale occurred at 6.52am today in the North Indian Ocean. Malaysia Meteorological Department in a statement here said the epicenter is located in North Indian Ocean, 675km Southwest of Great Nicobar, India and 1192 km to the Southwest of Kampar, Perak. Perak is a northern state of Peninsular Malaysia. No tsunami threat was detected, the statement added. --BERNAMA
