Number Of Exhibitors For DSA 2012 More Than Double

By Noraidah Abdul Karim KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 (Bernama) -- The number exhibitors for the Defence Services Asia 2012 more than double that of its inaugural year in 1988 from 394 companies to 850 this year, said a DSA 2012 Secretariat spokesman. He said among international companies that would be showcasing their products at the four-day fair at the PWTC from Monday were Amor and Force Protection (United States), Sastind (China), and TS Computers and Russia Technologies (Rosoboronexport) (Russia). On the other hand, he said local companies included Amdac (M) Sdn Bhd, Boustead Heavy Industries Corp, Bry-Air Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Deftech. Foreign companies will be occupying 40,000 sq metres of exhibition space while local companies, the biggest number so far, 1,700 sq metres, he told Bernama. He said in line this year's theme, "Humanitarian and Disaster Relief Operations in Asia", the exhibition would promote the latest medical facilities, emergency equipment and medical support systems for battle fields. Two exhibition halls will be used for the police and the armed forces to demonstrate their equipment, he said, adding that the army would be displaying a static, dynamic and mobility exhibition. In addition, he said the Defence Procurement Information Centre would be opened during the exhibition not only as an information centre, but also for briefing sessions in an effort to compare notes with participating countries on procurement processes and procedures. Thirteen countries participating in the DSA 2012 are Australia, Brunei, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, South Korea, Laos, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, he added. -- BERNAMA
