Eastin Hotel To Extend Hospitality Experience From Central To Northern Region

By Samantha Tan Chiew Ting GEORGE TOWN (Penang, Malaysia), April 20 (Bernama) -- The Eastin Hotel group is looking to extend its brand of hospitality from its flagship Eastin Petaling Jaya hotel to Eastin Hotel Penang. General Manager Mary Ann Harris said Eastin Penang was confident the hotel operator can derive the best practice from Eastin Petaling Jaya, which opened in 1997, and recently completed major renovations to its hotel and function rooms, lobby and restaurants. Eastin Penang, which opened in November 2009, has positioned itself as the leading business class hotel that caters for both business and leisure travellers. She told Bernama that Malaysia, the United States and Singapore are its top three source markets. Mary Ann said Eastin Penang's guests were mainly derived from multinational corporations and small-and-medium enterprises at the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone given the hotel's strategic location and easy access. On occupancy rates at Eastin Penang, she said it was most likely to hover around 75 per cent, against 77 per cent last year, due to preventive maintenance. She said the 328-room Eastin Penang would continue to maintain its market presence via the social and print media, adding that a sizeable part of its advertising and promotion budget this year was allocated for the Internet and mainstream media. Besides, Mary Ann said Eastin Penang's lobby was set to undergo renovation in May/June to better cater for guests' needs and convenience. -- BERNAMA
