PETALING JAYA (Malaysia), April 26 (Bernama) -- Ipoh-born Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh should be an exemplary role model for Malaysian women, said Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister Senator Heng Seai Kie. She said Yeoh epitomised independence, intelligence and beauty, and had always inspired women to reach their goals in career and life. "I have great admiration for woman like Michelle Yeoh who excels in all her movies as an international superstar and she is truly a living legend of 'Malaysia Boleh'. "It is also such an honour for Malaysian women to see their role model picked to portray a world's living legend for women and democracy, Aung San Suu Kyi," she said at the premiere show of Yeoh's latest movie, "The Lady" at Sunway TGV Cinema, Sunway Pyramid, here, Wednesday night. The premiere was organised by the Malaysian Chinese Women Entrepreneurs Association (MCWEA) in collaboration with the Malaysian Chinese Leaders Caucus (MCWLC) with the support of the ministry to raise funds for the Women Empowerment Towards National Transformation Charity Programme, conducting skills development and providing carrier-building opportunities for the poor and underprivileged. Yeoh who plays the lead role as Myanmar fighter for democracy Aung San Suu Kyi was also present and at the film premiere where she witnessed the presentation of a mock cheque for RM300,000 by MCWEA and Jeffrey Cheah Foundation to the Women Empowerment Towards National Transformation Charity Programme.
