India’s Warships To Make Port Call In Malaysia

NEW DELHI (India), May 7 (Bernama) -- India will despatch four warships, including a frontline destroyer and a stealth frigate, on a long overseas deployment through the strategic Malacca Strait and the contentious South China Sea enroute to Japan next week. The four Indian warships headed for Japan, which are led by Eastern Fleet commander Rear Admiral P.Ajit Kumar, will also make port calls in Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore, The Times of India reported. "The idea is to enhance security and stability in the entire Indian Ocean region by engaging with regional and extra-regional maritime powers," said a senior officer. -- BERNAMA
