Biomass Conference Presents Opportunities For Collaboration

KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 (Bernama) -- The four-day European Union (EU)-Asia Biomass Best Practices and Business Partnering Conference 2012, starting here tomorrow, presents opportunities for collaboration among local, regional and EU delegates as well as trade visitors. The one-day pre-conference seminar on Monday - themed 'Biomass Commercialisation and Financing Seminar' - served as an effective platform for local fund providers and financial institutions to share best practices on financing opportunities in the biomass sector. The event is organised by the EU-Malaysia Biomass Sustainable Production Initiative (Biomass-SP), a development cooperation project funded by the European Union (EU), under the SWITCH-Asia Programme. In a statement, Biomass-SP said the business matchmaking event aims to establish business and environmental partnerships by arranging one-to-one meetings between participating companies to formalise collaborations, such as import, export, direct investments and joint ventures. The conference will also have an exhibition to showcase products, services, research and technology development. The event, at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) has attracted more than 300 participants and up to 500 delegates. The Malaysian Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Peter Chin Fah Kui will officiate it. Meanwhile, the event will feature a two-day international conference from tomorrow, with 20 panel sessions of up to 70 subjects and speakers from Malaysia, Asia and Europe. --BERNAMA
