PM Lee Reaffirms Singapore's Stance To Support Myanmar's Reforms

By Tengku Noor Shamsiah Tengku Abdullah SINGAPORE, May 16 (Bernama) -- Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has reaffirmed the republic's stance to support positive changes in Myanmar and the latter's government’s capacity-building efforts. Lee made the affirmation during a meeting with Myanmar Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, U Wunna Maung Lwin. Maung Lwin, who was on a three-day visit to Singapore until today called on Lee this morning, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Lee and Maung Lwin noted the excellent relations between Singapore and Myanmar, and expressed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral ties. Maung Lwin updated Lee on recent developments in Myanmar and expressed appreciation for Singapore’s support towards Myanmar’s reforms. On Monday, Maung Lwin called on Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. They discussed recent developments in Myanmar and ways to strengthen bilateral ties. -- BERNAMA
