Seven Hundred Leaders To Attend WEF On East Asia

By Jamaluddin Muhammad BANGKOK, May 19 (Bernama) -- About 700 government and corporate leaders are expected to attend the three-day World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia here starting May 30. Thai Deputy Prime Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong said on Friday, four heads of government from Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos and Bahrain have confirmed their attendance thus far. Other East Asian countries would be represented by their ministers, he told a press conference. Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is scheduled to officiate the meeting on May 31. WEF is a Geneva-based non-profit organisation known for its annual meeting of government and corporate leaders from all over the world in Davos, Switzerland. Apart from the main Davos meeting, WEF also holds regional meetings for East Asia, Africa, the Middle East, North Africa and Eurasia. -- BERNAMA
