Asean Culture And Tourism Fair In South Korea In June

Ahmad Fuad Yahya JAKARTA, May 21 (Bernama) -- The Asean-Korea Centre is organising the fourth annual 'Asean Culture and Tourism Fair 2012' in both Seoul and Yeosu, South Korea, from June 6 to 10, to further raise public awareness of the diverse cultures and tourism resources of Asean in Korea. The cultural fair will offer visitors the chance to experience a variety of cultural programmes and performances, which include the diverse traditional dances, folk songs, and instrumental music showcased by more than 70 members of cultural troupes from the 10 Asean member countries. "This year, from Thailand's Baisri Sawan Dance to Malaysia's traditional musical instruments, the fair will present a wide array of traditional arts performances. "From June 9-10 (Sat-Sun) at D-Cube park in D-Cube City (Shindorim Station, Seoul), visitors to the fair will be able to taste and enjoy Southeast Asian food and drinks - including Asean coffee - at the Asean Kitchen," the Asean Secretariat said ini a statement, Monday. The National Tourism Organization (NTO) booths of 10 Asean member countries will also be set up at the event to enable visitors to get useful information on tourism resources in each Asean country. In addition to the fair's main event, special traditional cultural performances of the 10 Asean member countries will also be held at Yeosu Expo Hall, in conjunction with the International Exposition Yeosu Korea on June 6. "Through the fair, the Asean-Korea Centre hopes that both Seoul and other regional citizens will have the chance to shed new light on Asean by experiencing its diverse cultures," it said. The Asean-Korea Centre is an inter-governmental organisation aiming to increase trade volume, accelerate investment flow, invigorate tourism and enrich cultural exchanges between the Asean member countries and South Korea. -- BERNAMA
