AkzoNobel Sees Southeast Asia as an Important Growth Market

By Nurul Nadia Zaman KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 (Bernama) -- AkzoNobel, which launched a new brand identity for Dulux, sees Southeast Asia as an important growth market to increase its revenue. The group which owns the ICI and Dulux brands in Malaysia, is taking a major step in its global marketing strategy in its quest to accelerate revenue to 20 billion euro (US$25.6 billion) in the medium term. Akzonobel's Director of Decorative Paints South East Asia and Pacific, Jeremy Rowe said the launch of the new brand identity in Asia was closely integrated with the group's excellent business performance and commitment to its market in the region. He said the group has been closely involved in South East Asia's growth and development with a prominent position in the decorative paints segment. In 2011, Akzonobel Decorative Paints in Asia had a total revenue of 952 million euro (US$1.22 billion), an increase of 13 per cent from 2010. "The Southeast Asia business grew faster than the market, cementing its overall number one position in the region," Rowe said at a press conference here. The new brand identity is being rolled out worldwide with Malaysia among the first to introduce it. It features a human figure and colourful “Flourish” which will appear on all product packaging for the Let’s Colour brands. -- BERNAMA
