Complaint To Police Media Centre If Unhappy With Police Investigations
KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 (Bernama) -- Police are advising parties who are
dissatisfied with investigation reports against the force to submit their
complaints to the Federal Police's (Bukit Aman) Police Public Relations Centre.
Inspector-General of Police Secretariat (Public Relations) assistant head
ACP Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said whether they were political parties or
non-governmental organisations (NGO), they could submit their complaints to the
media centre without having to meet the police's highest leadership.
"To meet the police's top leadership, there is an appointment process which
requires prior agreement between the two parties apart from complying with
professional policing ethics. The parties cannot just meet up without an
appointment," he told Bernama.
He was commenting on the action by a group of People's Alliance Party (PKR)
supporters led by the Member of Parliament for Teluk Intan, M. Manoharan, who
insisted on handing over a memorandum to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP),
Ismail Omar, at noon at the Bukit Aman here on Thursday.
The memorandum sought to dispute police's investigation on a fracas between
People's Alliance Party (PKR) supporters and the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC)
members in front of Putra Perdana Building, Putrajaya on May 2.
Ramli said as the PKR group came without an appointment and wished to submit
a memorandum, only the media centre could receive it but the PKR group insisted
on handing it over to the IGP himself.
"We also offered to Manoharan to meet Kuala Lumpur police chief Mohmad
Salleh to submit the memorandum as the case in Putrajaya was under investigation
by the police contingent concerned. But they refused," he said, adding that the
PKR group finally handed over the memorandum to him.
