Three Killed, Four Injured In Pattani Blast

By Jamaluddin Muhammad BANGKOK (Thailand), May 28 (Bernama) -- Three of seven volunteers who were patrolling a village in Kapor, Pattani were killed in a roadside bomb blast here this afternoon. The victims, aged between 26 and 37, died on the spot about 12.30pm. Their bodies were sent to the Pattani Hospital. The rest, aged between 31 and 44, sustained serious injuries in the blast triggered by the 20kg homemade bomb which was planted in Kampung Hutang Berangan. They were warded at the hospital. Kapor police chief Col Manit Khongwatmai said the volunteers were patrolling in a car when the blast occurred. More than 5,000 people have died since suspected separatists resumed their armed campaign to seek independence for the three southern provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala, about eight years ago. -- BERNAMA
