AIG Group Increases Commitment to Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 (Bernama) -- American International Group (AIG) will further reinforce its commitment to Malaysia by making a considerable investment to expand its existing AIG operations, which provide support services to AIG businesses worldwide. These operations include AIG Global Services Sdn Bhd (AIGGS), an IT infrastructure service provider and Chartis Technology and Operations Management (CTOM), a shared service centre for insurance and financial services and operations management. This expansion by both entities is expected to generate a total of over 1,800 high-value jobs in Malaysia over the next 10 years, creating a global centre of excellence and resulting in a critical mass of skills and experience for the broader AIG business. Employees will enjoy rewarding careers in a wide variety of professional disciplines with exposure to the insurance industry across several dimensions, geography, functions and levels of complexity. "Malaysia is a business location of choice for AIG and we are excited about expanding our presence in this vibrant country," Chief Representative, AIG (Malaysia), Matt Harris said in a statement on Tuesday. "With over 90 years of experience providing insurance in Malaysia, we know how attractive this environment is to a rapidly growing company. "The macroeconomic conditions, the variety of language capabilities accessible within Malaysia, and the richness of the talent in the market made Malaysia a natural choice of location," he said. AIG said this initiative is closely aligned to MSC Malaysia and the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and their strategy to support the broader Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) in its vision to transform Malaysia into a high-income nation by 2020. "AIG has enjoyed a close partnership and support from MDeC and MSC Malaysia and is proud of its pioneer status. "The ETP has also provided AIG with the foundation for infrastructure and skills, which we rely upon for a large-scale shared services organisation. "We are eager to move into the next phase of investment and expansion in Malaysia," Harris said. -- BERNAMA
