Korean Society Makes US$9,476.08 Donationto Malaysian Police

KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysia Police on Thursday received a RM30,OOO (US$9,476.08) contribution from the Korean Society in Malaysia for its welfare fund. It was delivered on behalf of the society by South Korean envoy in Malaysia Lee Yong-Joon to Inspector-General of Police Ismail Omar here. Speaking at the ceremony, Ismail said that besides welfare purposes, the funds were meant for the education of the children of the Malaysian police community. "It's a bit about the role of Korean people in capacity building efforts in Malaysia and I believe that it marks a significant moment for Korean Society in Malaysia in showing its concern over the well-being of local police personnel, he said. Present were the Society's president Yoon Sun Kyu and Deputy Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar. -- BERNAMA
