An impressed Guinea says Malaysia Can Help in Its Economic Development

By Zairina Zainudin KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will be able to assist the Republic of Guinea in its economic development as it has solutions to many problems, says Guinea International Cooperation Minister Prof Dr Sano Koutoub Moustapha. Among the solutions it will be able to offer are in the areas of digital identity, passport, and developments in the agriculture and construction sector. "Guinea is very impressed with the Malaysian progress and we have come here to learn about the country's experiences and successes. "We are also very pleased to know that Malaysia is the first country in the world which offers the electronic passport and was the inventor for the digital identity card," he told Bernama during the visit of a delegation from Guinea to IRIS Corporation Bhd on Thursday. Besides that, Koutoub said the country was also very keen on Malaysia's solution for its education sector. "We went to the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) on Wednesday and we found it to be a wonderful institution of higher learning. "We are thinking of strengthening our cooperation by sending more students to IIUM because we know Guinea's future relies on this generation," he added. The minister also expressed hope that their visit would be the first step for Guinea in establishing a business relationship with Malaysia. "I'm not going to say a few months but in a few weeks, we are going to see in place some application in terms of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) or agreement from Malaysian companies. "We will do our best to welcome them and to be received very soon in Guinea," he said. Koutoub is among the members of a delegation currently led by Guinea President Alpha Conde to Malaysia (June 26-28). It is Conde's first official visit to Malaysia. The delegation visited IRIS to discuss on a business potential. --BERNAMA
