BUKIT MERTAJAM (Penang,Malaysia), June 29 (Bernama) -- Fifty research products and innovations by polytechnics throughout the country were patented this year, said Department of Polytechnic Education director-general Maj (H) Md Nor Yusof. He said these intellectual properties would be offered to the private sector and entrepreneurs for commercialisation. "Last year, 20 products were patented and we targeted 50 this year. So we actually managed to reach our target within six months of the year. "I believe more products and innovations will be patented because we are actively drawing up and implementing programmes to culturalise innovations and ensure continuity of the country's competitiveness," he said after closing the Robot Soccer Fira Malaysia Cup 2012 seminar and competition at the Seberang Perai Polytechnic, here, Friday. Md Nor said that among the innovations produced by lecturers and students were a vehicle parking system, a tyre-replacement appliance for women to operate and salad instant seasoning. Earlier, during the function, Md Nor presented prizes to winners of the micro robot soccer tournament in two categories, MiroSat and SimuroSot. -- BERNAMA
