Six Plane Hijackers Overcome By Flight Crew And Passengers In Xinjiang

BEIJING, June 30 (Bernama) -- Air crew and passengers on Friday successfully overcame six hijackers who attempted to hijack an aircraft with 100 people on board in China's far west Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, reported China Central Television (CCTV). Flight GS7554, which took off at 12.25pm from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's Hotan Airport to Urumqi, was hijacked ten minutes after its departure, according to news from the public security department of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. During the fight with hijackers, some passengers and flight crew sustained minor injuries. The plane returned to Hotan Airport immediately after the attempted hijacking, CCTV reported.
