Malaysia Airlines Opens Second Branch Office in Sri Lanka

By M. Saraswathi NEW DELHI, July 2 (Bernama) -- In an effort to take advantage of the booming tourism industry in Sri Lanka, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has opened a second branch office in Matara in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. MAS is the only foreign carrier in Sri Lanka that has two branch offices. The other branch office is located in Kandy, Ceylon Daily News reported. "This is a major milestone for us as just 15 months ago, we increased our flight frequency from Colombo to Kuala Lumpur from five times to seven times weekly," said MAS'General Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives, Manmohan Singh. The increase in frequency offered a total of 1,162 seats, to cater for the continued growth in demand, between the two countries and beyond, he said. -- BERNAMA
