Foreign students should study Federal Constitution, says Malaysian historian
KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- A historian has suggested that the Federal Constitution be made a compulsory subject for foreign students pursuing studies in the country.
Prof Dr Mohd Yusoff Hashim said this was adopted by Indonesia which required foreign students to pass the country's Pancasila programme, the ideological basis of the republic.
However, Mohd Yusoff, who is also vice chancellor of the Islamic College University in Melaka, said before the proposal could be implemented, it should be practiced among local students to ensure its effectiveness.
He said the time had come for the Federal Constitution to be taught and introduced to students in the country starting from primary school to higher learning institutions.
