M'sian National Education System To Undergo Transformation Next Year
JOHOR BAHARU (Johor, Malaysia), July 14 (Bernama) -- The national education
system is expected to undergo transformation next year by taking into account
the findings of the National Education Dialogue (NED) conducted since April.
Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the transformation would be done
in phases starting with matters that could be implemented immediately.
"We are hoping for a quantum leap. All views from the series of dialogue are
recorded, reviewed and analysed for the gist in developing the Education
Development Plan in 15 years and Strategic Education Plan in three years.
"There are short term, medium term and long term plans over 15 years to
improve the quality of education to be on par with developed countries," he told
reporters after closing the National Education Dialogue (NED) 2012 here
Saturday.
The education minister said input from NED would help the Ministry of
Education in preparing the final report for the Cabinet by year end.
The final report would take into account views of panel members,
international panel members, Unesco officials and local universities.
He said the 15 series of NED involving over 10,000 people proved that the
government was sincere in improving the national education system.
"Its a long, tedious and exhausting process but the Ministry of Education
has suceeded in the people's interest. We are aware that views of the people
must not be left out."
The government plans to hold several more roadshows in September and October
to exhibit the findings from NED.
