Launching project of international books
London, Oct 17, SPA -- The project of the international books on
Islam and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was launched here yesterday.
The project, which was prepared by 77 researchers, thinkers and
politicians from inside and outside the Kingdom, aims at projecting
Islam and the Saudi society in their proper manner as well as
deepening dialogue and understanding between the Kingdom and other
societies and civilizations.
The function was attended by undersecretary of the ministry of
culture and information for cultural affairs Dr Abdulaziz al-Subeyel
and other officials, academicians and intellectuals.
The launching ceremony was organized by the clubs of the Saudi
students in Britain and North Ireland with the support of Ghaina
establishment for studies and information, the publisher of the
books.
The books published in Arabic, English and French constitute a
cultural message for enhancing the values of dialogue and correction
of wrong concepts about Islam and the Kingdom. Moreover they shed
light on the biography of Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him.
The project clarifies the stand of the Kingdom vis-à-vis a number of
problems notably the problems of terrorism, the status of the women
in the Muslim societies, the Kingdom in particular, the Saudi
political system, the ritual of promotion of virtue and prevention of
vice and other economic, social and cultural issues.
Speaking on the occasion, Badr bin Ahmad Koreyemn, the chairman of
the project, highlighted the importance of the project.
Badr Koreyem said Britain has been chosen for launching the books
after Saudi Arabia due to the fact that Britain is a country of
civilization and culture.
On his part, Dr Mohammed al-Bishr, the head of the project's
scientific team, has confirmed that knowledge is the base of
understanding with others.
He reviewed the cultural project which was prepared by a number of
researchers and media men from the United Kingdom, the US, France,
Greece, Russia, Japan as well as the Arab world, notably Saudi
Arabia.
Meanwhile, chairman of the clubs of the Saudi students in Britain
Mohammed al Alsheikh and director general of Ghaina establishment
Abdulaziz al-Dawood underlined the importance of the cultural
projects, and said they positively contribute to narrowing the gap
among the cultures and enhancing the pillars of understanding and
dialogue.
After launching the project a seminar was organized with the
participation of a number of researchers and specialists on the
affairs of the Kingdom and the Middle East.
The participants of the seminar reviewed means for enhancing dialoged
and understanding between the Muslim and western societies and the
efforts being exerted by the Kingdom in this respect.
It is worth mentioning that the project was launched in Riyadh on
16-3-1429 in the presence of a number of intellectuals and
academicians.
The project will also be launched in other countries.
