Meeting of Kazakhstan-Russian interparliament group
Astana, 18 October 2008, (Khabar) - For the last seven months the turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia exceeded 12 billion US dollars, which is 32% higher than during the same period in 2007.
Participants of the second meeting of the interparliament group on cooperation between the Kazakhstani
Senate Parliament and the Council of the Federation of Russia are sure that
these indicators will grow even farther.
In particular, the cooperation in the near-border regions is actively
developing and gradually other regions will become involved in the process
of joint projects creation. The amount of investments in such branches as
the economy, industry, construction sector, transport and communication is
increasing.
Akhan Bizhanov, co-chairman of parliamentary group:
- First of all, we are interested in cooperation issues in the power energy
and oil and gas sectors. We have great prospects and the atomic energy
sector and the oil and gas sector see a huge development.
Vladimir Babichev, co-chairman of parliament group:
- Now about 72-76 territories of the Russian Federation are working with the
Kazakhstan economy, compared with only 22-26 before. At a recent meeting our
presidents confirmed that this sphere has great potential.
As was noted at the meeting, the main aim of the two countries is to provide
a legal base for further development of partnership relations.
