It is not unusual that Iran and Egypt differ on Syria: Iranian official

TEHRAN,Sept.3(MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said that there might be differences of opinion between Iran and Egypt on the Syrian issue and that is completely an usual matter. “We should not expect that all 120 countries (the member states to the Non-Aligned Movement) think the same as each other,” Mehmanparast said during a televised program on Saturday night in response to a question on Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi’s remarks on Syria. During his speech at the 16th summit of NAM in Tehran, Morsi expressed support for the Syrian opposition. Commenting on differences of opinion on Syria between the heads of state and government participating in the NAM summit, Mehmanparast said that one of the features of the NAM summit was that every country could freely express its viewpoints on various issues. He also emphasized that Morsi’s remarks included important points, which related to supporting the Palestinian nation and the independence of all countries. Mehmanparast said it is important that the countries that participated in the NAM summit are firm in their campaign against the arrogant powers. He added the NAM countries are opposed to foreign intervention in Syria and this is an important point.
