PRESIDENT TO ATTEND ASEAN SUMMIT, ASEAN+3 IN BEIJING
Jakarta, Oct 21 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to take part in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) summit on October 23 and Asean + 3 on October 24 before attending the Asia Europe (ASEM) Meeting in Beijing, China.
President Yudhoyono hailed the decision to hold the Asean summit and Asean+3 before the ASEM summit on October 23 and 25, presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal said here on Tuesday.
Dino said leaders in the Asean summit and Asean + 3 meeting would discuss efforts to overcome current global economic and financial crisis.
On the sidelines of the meetings President Yudhoyono is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Chinese president Hu Jintao, Chinese prime minister Wen Jibao, Singaporean prime minister Lee Hsien Loong, Thai prime minister Somchai Wongsawat and Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen.
"The President is also scheduled to attend a one-on-one business meeting and a video conference with UN Secretary general Ban Ki-moon, Polish prime minister Donald Tusk and Danish prime minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen to discuss the continuation of the Bali roadmap," he said.
Dino said the meeting with the three leaders was important to maintain the momentum of climate change discussions.
He said President Yudhoyono would deliver at least two speeches namely at the ASEM summit and at a working lunch held on the sidelines of the ASEM summit.
Dino said the ASEM summit would discuss efforts to promote Asia-Europe trade and investment, sustainable development, regional and international development and strengthen dialogues between civilizations and on global issues of the two sides' interest.
In the next 7th ASEM summit that carries a theme of "Vision and Action Toward Win-Win Solution" it is hoped heads of state/government would again dig up the potentials that the ASEM has for realizing mutually-benefical cooperation for the people of the two regions.

Asked if President Yudhoyono would raise the question of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Tangguh at his meeting with the Chinese leader, Dino said that it was possible.
"Negotiations on the Tangguh gas sales contract are still continuing and I think it is not impossible for the president to discuss it," he said.
Several cabinet ministers concerned would be in the presidential delegation.***5***
