MINISTER CALLS ON KADIN TO GIVE ROOM TO SMALL, MEDIUM INDUSTRIES FOR PROGRESS
Jakarta, Oct 21 (ANTARA) - Industry minister Fahmi Idris called on all parties particularly the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to give room to small and medium industries to make them able to become business partners for progress.
"To build strong, small, and medium industries support is needed from various parties particularly Kadin that could provide them with room to make them able to become reliable business partners," he said.
He said the existence and capability of small and medium industries had to be continuously strengthened and boosted because they could provide jobs and business.
In efforts to develop the industries he said he had so far focussed not only on their financing but on the whole aspect of their business.
"The involvement of all parties in supporting the development of the industries would make the national economy stronger because it would grow on the basis of the people's ecomomy," he said.
He said his office had carried out several programs among others creating conducive business atmosphere through issuance of negative list, import tariffs and fiscal policy proposals.
He said the industry ministry had also made programs for the development of technology, standardization, quality and product designs through revitalization of their technology, rehabilitation of their production facilities, improvement of their quality standards, implementation of clean products and machinery assistance.
"The industry ministry also develop programs to improve competency of their human resources and programs to assure raw materials supply," he said.
He said until now the office had been active campaigning on programs for the development of business institutions through clinical activities such as on design, packaging, marketing and human resource development.
The minister said his office had also facilitated bank and non-bank financing institutions to support small and medium businesses' financing through a people's business credit scheme.
