Thai PM pays respect to late King Norodom Sihanouk
PHNOM PENH, October 19 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra flew to Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital, Friday afternoon to pay respect to late Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk at the royal funeral.
Accompanied by Thai Deputy Prime Minister General Yuthasak Sasiprapa, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisarn, Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom and Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Julapong Srinonchai, Premier Yingluck, upon her arrival in Phnom Penh, headed to the Throne Hall of the Royal Palace, where she laid a wreath to pay respect to late Cambodian King and signed a mourning book on behalf of the Thai government and people.
On the occasion, the Thai premier was granted an audience with King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mum Norodom Monineath Sihanouk of Cambodia, during which she conveyed the Thai government and people's condolence for the passing away of the 89-year-old late Cambodian monarch from natural causes earlier this week.
The Thai prime minister also met and conveyed the condolence to her Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen.
The Thai leader and her entourage is scheduled to return back to Bangkok Friday evening. (TNA)
