WORLD CHEMISTS TO MEET IN BANDUNG
Bandung, West Java, Oct. 22 (ANTARA) - Chemists from various countries will participate in an International Seminar on Chemistry 2008, to be held in Bandung, on October 30 and 31, 2008.
The seminar would be organized by the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty of Pandjajaran University (Undap) to mark the 50th anniversary of the faculty's chemistry department, Weny Widyowati, a spokesperson of Unpad, said here on Wednesday.
Research and Technology Minister Prof. Dr Kusmayanto would be a keynote speaker of the seminar, she said.
Among noted chemists to attend the seminar would be Prof Dr Hiroshi Bandow (Osaka Prefecture University - Japan, Environmental Chemistry), Prof Dr Jose A C Brokaert (Hamburg University Germany, Analytical Chemistry), and Prof Dr Bauke W Dijstra (University of Groningen - the Netherlands, Biophysical Chemistry).
The seminar's theme will be "The Roles of Chemistry in the Utilization of Natural Resources".
The seminar will comprise plenary and parallel sessions, which will discuss subjects such as innovation in analytical methods, techniques and instrumentations; Innovation in material chemistry; Natural products chemistry and organic synthesis; Biomolecular sciences and biotechnology; and environmental and green chemistry.
