PRESIDENT BEGINS VISIT TO CHINA

Jakarta, Oct. 22 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono left Jakarta on Wednesday morning to begin a five-day visit to Beijing, China, to attend the Seventh Asian-European Meeting (ASEM).
The Head of State accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono departed from Halim Perdana Kusumah air force base by a presidential plane Airbus A330.
Among the presidential entourage are Coordinating Minister for Political and Legal Affairs Widodo AS, Trade Minister Mari Elka
Pangestu, State Enterprise Minister Sofyan Djalil, Foreign Affairs Minister Hassan Wirajuda, Energy and Mineral Resource Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro, Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari, Environmental Affairs Minister Rachmat Witoelar, Minister/Cabinet Secretary Sudi Silalahi, and Deputy Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) Irman Gusman.
They are expected to arrive in Beijing at 5 pm local time on the same day, and return to Jakarta on Sunday (Oct. 26) at 7 pm Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
Prior to participating in the ASEM Forum, President Yudhoyono would hold bilateral meetings with among others Chinese President Hu Jintao, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien-Loong, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Thailand's Prime Minister Somchai WOngsawat, Dutch Prime Minister Jan Pieter Bakenende, and Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Wu Yi, according to Presidential Spokesman Dino Pati Djalal.
Yudhoyono would also attend an ASEAN Summit and ASEAN Plus 3 Summit which includes China, Japan and South Korea, to discuss the impacts of the current global financial crisis on the East Asian economy, Djalal said.
He is also scheduled to hold a meeting with a number of Chinese businessmen.
According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Yudhyono would also give Presidential Lectures at Beijing University and Beijing
University School of Chinese Medicine.
In Beijing, the Indonesian President would also hold a video teleconference with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to discuss about global warming.
The Seventh ASEM taking place from October 24 to 25 will be attended by 44 heads of state and government.
