Mild quake hits Thai North

CHIANG RAI, October 24 (TNA) - A mild earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale struck Thailand’s northern Chiang Rai province early Wednesday morning, but there were no reports of any damage or casualties. The Meteorological Department's Seismological Bureau reported that, the quake took place at 5:23am with its epicentre located in Chiang Rai's Mae Chan district. According to the Seismological Bureau, the dawn quake inflicted no damage or casualties and people could not feel the tremor as the tremble happened in a far-reaching forest area. The early Wednesday morning quake was the forth in Chiang Rai this week, after a minor quake jolted Chiang Saen district and three others shook Mae Chan district on October 22-23. (TNA)
