Indonesia becomes promising market for Thai longan

CHANTABURI, THAILAND, October 24 (TNA) - Indonesia has now become a promising market for Thai longan, as the world's largest archipelagic country has imported the Thai fruit for the first time this year. According to longan growers club 2 in the eastern Chantaburi province, Thai longan has been warmly welcome by the new Indonesian market, where purchase orders for the Thai fruit have reached over two billion baht so far. President of the longan farmers club 2 in Chantaburi's Chai-daen district Songkram Ooncharoenpanich said Wednesday although China has remained a major importing market for Thai longan, Indonesia has been, better than expected, emerging as another major market for the Thai fruit, particularly the longan supply from Soi Dao and Pong Nam Ron districts. Songkram acknowledged this year's longan produce from Soi Dao and Pong Nam Ron districts is coming out, part of which is being exported to the Indonesian market, while other fruit produce in the eastern Thai province will come out early next year.
