OUTSOURCING INDUSTRY NEEDS 60,000 STAFF UP TO 2012
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will need 60,000 call centre staff up to 2012 to maintain its position as a leading outsourcing destination in the world, Higher Education Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin said Wednesday.
"The targeted number of employees is necessary to maintain our country's
position as the second leading outsourcing nation, registering an annual growth
of 7.3 per cent behind India which has a 12.7 per cent growth," he said.
Another study showed that Malaysia was third behind China and India as a
favourite destination among corporations for their outsourcing strategies, he
told reporters after launching the "My Career, My Future" training programme,
here.
Mohamed Khaled said studies showed that the outsourcing industry in
Malaysia would continue to grow and was expected to surpass US$5 billion (RM17.7
billion) in volume this year.
He said that in view of the market potential, the ministry would co-operate
with MyPartners to launch a programme to train graduates in outsourcing skills.
