ECO Industry And Investment Committee Holds Meeting In Ankara

Ankara, Nov 7, IRNA – ECO Industry and Investment committee meeting affiliated to Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the organization was held here on Tuesday with participation of Iran representative in Ankara. The meeting was hosted by Turkey's Union of Chambers and Stock Exchanges. In the meeting, chaired by Iran's Executive Secretary of Chamber of Commerce Mohammad Reza Karbasi, issues related to development of industrial and investment cooperation in the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) were discussed. Matin Anil, as representative of Turkey's union of chambers and stock exchanges in the meeting, said that center of world economy is moving from Atlantic to Asia and this is a valuable opportunity for ECO region. She said that economic crisis in the European Union has shown us that no country can determine its fate by it own and countries in a geographical region with common interests can be winner together or loser together. On the eve of holding General Assembly meeting of ECO Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the meeting of committees of transportation and investment of ECO was held here on Tuesday, too. Head of Turkey Marine Chamber of Commerce Najdat Oz underlined ECO Geo-strategic importance and said that European economy has entered into a recession period and now ECO members should think seriously about trade development inter-organization and use potential capacities. He also underlined necessity of development of ECO naval and rail transportation and using capacities of member states in transit transportation from west to east and east to west and added that in this direction bureacracy should be reduced. ECO Chamber of Commerce and Industry General Assembly will hold meeting on Wednesday here under chairmanship of Mohammad Nahavandian, head of the chamber as well as head of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture./end
