TRADE BALANCE WAS IN DEFICIT

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ In the first ten months of 2012, Mongolia traded with 135 countries, and a total external trade turnover reached USD 9,404.0 million. The exports accounted USD 3,664.7 million dollars, the imports--USD 5,739.3 million. Foreign trade balance showed a deficit of USD 2,074.6 million, reflecting USD 469.6 million dollars or 29.3-percent increase against the same period of 2011. This was caused by the fact that the import growth was higher by 9.4 points than the export growth. Total external trade turnover increased USD 304.3 million or 3.3 per cent--imports by USD 386.9 million or 7.2 per cent, but exports decreased USD 82.7 million or 2.2 per cent against the previous year. Mineral products, natural or cultured stones, precious metal, jewelry, coins, raw & processed hides, skins, fur & articles, animal origin products, and textile articles accounted for 98.2 per cent of the total export value amount.
