EXHIBITION OF MONGOLIAN CALLIGRAPHY OPENS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Initiated by the President, an exhibition of Mongolian script calligraphy named “Script of Eternal Sky 2012” opened Monday in the Fine Art Gallery. It has been dedicated to 850th birth anniversary of the founder of the Great Mongol Empire Chingis Khaan.
The State Head Ts.Elbegdorj addressed the opening ceremony, saying the Mongolians are proudly celebrating the birth anniversary of Chingis Khaan and expressing satisfaction with the exhibition opened within the big event.
“Material things made by humans are not eternal, but culture, custom and traditions of nations exist for thousands years. I think it is not possible to judge any nation by its roads and things constructed, or size of debts they have. Nations are evaluated by their own traditional script, rule of living and law. The Mongolian traditional script is an amazing culture created by our intelligence and tested by time,” the State Head stressed.
The Presidential Office has opened a website on the Mongolian script, Mr Elbegdorj said and wished all Mongolians to be proud of their script and use it every day. The script is gradually entering our life, for example, all official documents, sent to domestic and foreign receivers both, are written in the Mongolian script, secondary schools and higher education diplomas are published in Cyrillic and the Mongolian scripts, he said.
To continue until Thursday, the exhibition is mounting the calligraphy pieces of D.Batbayar, a member of the Confederation of Mongolian Creative Artists and leader of the “AC” Mongolian calligraphy club; T.Jamyansuren, a painter; B.Khishigsuren and D.Sukhbaatar, painters and calligraphists; L.Tuvshinjargal, the 1st place holder of the national championship for calligraphy; and others.
