PEACEKEEPERS TAKE OATH

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A ceremony took place Wednesday in the Palace of Military Officers to see off peacekeepers who will serve in Afghanistan. They are tasked, together with Germany troops, with protecting an airport. A Lieutenant Colonel D.Jargalsaikhan has been appointed the commander of the 7th shift's military group; a Major V.Gantomor is to be a platoon commander of the 4th shift. Present at the ceremony were Ts.Enkhtuvshin, the secretary of the National Security Council; Lieutenant-General Ts.Byambajav, a head of the General Headquarters of Mongolia's Armed Forces (GHMAF); Major-General Ch.Choijamts, the State Secretary of the Defense Ministry; Peter Schaller, the Ambassador of the Germany to Mongolia; military officers, and families of the peacekeepers. For the time being, 1,300 Mongolian peacekeepers have served in Afghanistan, Sudan and the South Sudan. B.Khuder
