Arab Cultural week brightens up in Europe

BRUSSELS, October 24 (SPA) -- Head of the Arab League Delegation to
the European Union (EU) Abdulwahab Darbal on Thursday expressed
optimism on the success of November's upcoming Arab Cultural Week to
be organized by the European Parliament (EP).

In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Darbal said he was
confident the week's activities would present only a fraction of what
Arab culture has to offer.

The event comes under the recent "2008 Intercultural Dialogue Year"
campaign launched by the EP with similar weeks also scheduled for
regions in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The Arab side is comprised of an addition to the event which will
provide visitors with a chance to discuss the Arab culture.

Darbal said he had hoped that different segments of the Arab World
could have participated individually, like the Arab Gulf, the Arab
Maghreb and Sham regions.

He thanked the Kuwaiti Embassy in Belgium and the EU for their
generous support to the Arab League delegation.
