Iran Grabs Taekwondo World Vice-championship Title

Tehran, Nov 26, IRNA -- Iranian taekwondo athletes became vice champion of the 2012 World Cup Taekwondo held in the city of Santa Cruz, Aruba. In the last day of the international taekwondo matches, the Iranian team became second in the men's category after being defeated by South Korea. Earlier on Sunday, Iranians defeated their Chinese rivals 19-18 in the semi-final round of the competition. South Korean taekwondo fighters also defeated their Spanish rivals 21-18. The 2012 World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships, which began on November 22 and ended on November 25, drew a total of 161 athletes, 93 men and 68 women, of 13 male teams and 10 female teams. Iran attained the World Taekwondo Championship title for the first time in the matches in men's category held in Gyeongju, South Korea in 2011./end
