140 Indonesian Workers Deported From Malaysia
Nunukan, Nov 27 (ANTARA) - At least 140 Indonesian workers were deported by the Malaysian government on Monday via the Tunon Taka International port of Nunukan for having problem with the Malaysian regulations.
The deported Indonesians including 103 men, 31 women , five boys and a girl, were involved in immigration, robbery and drug cases, Indonesian consulate staff in Malaysia`s Tawau Muh Afsar said here.
Muh Afsar said before being deported via Tunon Taka, the workers were detained at a temporary detention center in Tawau Sejaka for several months.
The deportation is based on a letter from the Malaysian immigration office in Tawau
Seven of the 140 workers were sick when they were held at the provisional detention and had to be treated medically at the Nunukan health office.
One of the sick workers Abdul Kadir said he caught flue since two days before the deportation.
"I caught flue two days ago at the detention," Abdul Kadir, who hailed from Adonara, East Nusa Tenggara .
He was arrested when he was in his residential place at Lahaddatu, Malaysia.
