CONSULTATIVE MEETINGS RUNS BETWEEN MINISTRIES OF ENVIRONMENT

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolia's Minister of Environment and Green Development and the Ministry of Environment of Japan held this week its 7th policy consultative meeting in Tokyo, Japan.
It was co-chaired by B.Tulga, the Vice Minister of Environment and Green Development, and by Ryutaro Yatsu, Japan's Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs.
The sides have discussed several issues and reached some agreements on the bilateral ties and cooperation in the environment sector and on measures to be taken in near future.
Japan expressed its readiness to cooperate with Mongolia at a regional level, and asked the government of Mongolia to focus on the Climate and Clean Air Coalition which was established last February at initiative of the USA with a purpose to reduce short-lived climate pollutants. It has been joined by Japan and Bangladesh so far.
The Mongolian side has proposed to expand the cooperation, for example, to work out and realize a project on strengthening information network of bird flu based on recommendations from the reconnaissance research, to cooperate in saving endangered Gobi bear (Mazaalai), to train Mongolian surface water experts in Japan and so on.
As the two countries decided, the next consultative meeting will run in Ulaanbaatar.
