Syrian Min: US, Its Allies, Crisis-Makers In Syria

Tehran, Dec 6, IRNA – Syrian Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Subhi Ahmad Abdullah said here Wednesday ongoing crisis in Syria is result of plots hatched by United States and its regional allies. According to a Wednesday report by the Public Relations Office of the Iranian Islamic Parliament, the visiting Syrian minister made the comment in a meeting with Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani. Minister Abdullah in the meeting appreciated the support rendered by the Iranian nation and government officials for legitimate Syrian Government, arguing, 'This US plot which is backed by the US allies in the region is aimed at weakening the resistance axis to secure the benefits of the Zionist regime.' He furthermore emphasized the need expansion and strengthening of political, economic and agricultural cooperation between the two countries, adding, 'There are noticeable and appropriate grounds for further strengthening agricultural cooperation between the two countries, which need to be utilized.' Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, too, at the beginning of the meeting praised the exemplary resistance of the Syrian people and government against the unprecedented foreign pressure, adding, 'The Iranian Islamic Parliament supports any move and activity aimed at the expansion and further strengthening of bilateral political, economic and commercial ties with Syria, aimed at assisting the Syrian brother nation. Larijani said that the ongoing crisis in Syria is the result of oppressor powers' plots under the banner of seeking democracy, adding, 'The Islamic Republic of Iran believes the Syrian crisis can be solved merely in the course of holding frank and real dialogue between the Syrian Government and the Syrian opposition forces. The Iranian Parliament Speaker at the end emphasized the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic of Iran officials strong support for restoration of security and stability in Syrian, arguing, 'It is not possible to establish peace and stability in Syria resorting to weapons and military facilities, while a political compromise inclusive of the entire Syrian groups aimed at pursuing the real reforms can lead to the establishment of peace and Stability there.' SANA, the state news agency, reported that 29 people at the school, including one teacher and several children, were killed by a mortar shell fired by 'terrorists,' its term for its opponents, in Bteeha, a small town north of Damascus on the road to the city of Homs. Anti-government activist groups confirmed the attack but said that nine people were killed at the school in the Wafideen refugee camp. The road to Homs and on to the commercial hub of Aleppo has been strongly contested in recent fighting. Recent bombs and mortar attacks by rebels that have killed civilians have angered both supporters and opponents of the government in recent weeks, as even some who support the rebels express concern that the violence has spiraled out of control./end
