Qatar Ready To Supply 1.5 Million Tons Of LNG
Jakarta, Dec 7 (ANTARA) - Deputy minister for energy and mineral resources Rudi Rubiandini said Qatar is ready to supply 1.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year for Indonesia starting next year.
"I just received a visit from an investor from Hungary that could supply LNG from Qatar for Indonesia," Rudi said here on Thursday.
He said Qatar could supply 1.5 million tons of LNG per year in the next two years for the state electricity company PLN .
PLN could negotiate the LNG price with Qatar between US$8-US$11 per MMBTU, he said.
After 2015, the country`s LNG requirement will increase estimated to reach 7 million tons a year with the operation of the terminals of Arun, Jateng and Lampung.
"If possible we want Qatar would continue to supply after 2015. But it could be discussed later . Now let us first focus on supply for two years," he said.
He said Indonesia would gain by importing gas from countries having large surplus as Qatar, while exporting its own production at a higher price.
The exports of LNG to Japan at a price of US$17-US$18 per MMBTU could be continued, he said.
"At the same time we import from a country, which needs to dispose of its surplus at a price of US$8-US$11 per MMBTU," he said.
Indonesia is one of the world`s largest producers and exporters of LNG .
Rudi said 8 of 10 cargoes of LNG from Tangguh originally allocated for Sempra would be used to supply state fertilizer factory of PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) in Aceh in 2013.
The remaining 2 cargoes will be allocated for PLN via the floating terminal (FSRU) at the Jakarta Bay.
