MONGOLIAN TO RAISE STATE FLAG IN ANTARCTICA

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag received on Saturday a Prof L.Dugerjav, a head of Mongolia's Antarctica, and passed him the state flag. Mr Dugerjav said it will be hoisted at the zero point of Antarctica soon. L.Dugerjav said he had visited this continent three times executing research works, this time he intends to hoist the state flag at this point of the South pole. He will leave for the continent on Wednesday, plans to reach the zero point by January 4 next year. He has been included in an expedition comprising researchers from 16 countries within the International Polar Year to last until 2013. During the expedition, the Antarctica Institute of Bulgaria, Mongolia's Antarctica Association and the National Agency of Metrology and Environment Monitoring will conduct researches to reveal how the global climate change and intensive melting of Antarctica's ice influence the weather of Mongolia.
