Five National Figures To Receive SPS Awards

Yogyakarta, Dec 13 (ANTARA) - Five national figures will receive awards from the Indonesian Association of Press Publishers (SPS) as figures of public choice 2012 for their contributions to the public. The five figures are Finance Minister Agus DW Martowardojo, Paramadina University rector Anies R Baswedan, Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi), chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Jusuf Kalla, and Constitutional Court chief Mahfud MD, SPS Executive Director Asmono Wikan said here on Wednesday. They deserve to receive the awards for their thoughts, activities and breakthroughs that have given great contributions to the public, he said. In addition, they are also known as "relatively clean figures", he said. He said Chief of the SPS Central Executive Board Dahlan Iskan will confer the awards on the five figures on the occasion of the 1st SPS-Indonesia PR Summit 2012: The Global Challenge and Opportunity in Managing a Sustainable Reputation` to be held in Yogyakarta on Friday. The SPS PR Summit which is the first of its kind to be held by SPS will be opened by Deputy Chairman of the SPS Central Executive Board Agung Adiprasetyo. The two-day meeting which will open on Thursday will feature a number of speakers, including Chief of the Forum for Indonesian Editors-in-Chief Wahyu Muryadi and Chairman of the Press Council Bagir Manan, he said. Hopefully, the forum will contribute significantly to the development of public relations and media affairs in the years to come, he said.
