RI, Malaysia To Hold Annual Consultation Meeting

Jakarta, Dec 18 (ANTARA) - Indonesian and Malaysian leaders are scheduled to attend the annual consultation meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will leave for Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday afternoon to attend the meeting. "During the visit, President Yudhoyono will hold a private meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Mohd Najib Tun Razak. Then, the two leaders will chair the 9th annual consultation meeting, which will be attended by ministers and high-ranking officials from both countries," Presidential Special Aide for International Affairs Teuku Feizasyah said. He stated that President Yudhoyono would also receive an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership of Peace from the North Malaysia University. "The annual consultation meeting is the highest forum for discussing and developing bilateral relations between the two countries," Faizasyah noted. "This time, President Yudhoyono will discuss efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries. He will cover issues such as the protection of Indonesian citizens and migrant workers, border issues, as well as trade and investment," he added. The 8th annual consultation meeting was held in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, in October 2011. After completing his visit to Malaysia, Yudhoyono will leave for India on Wednesday to attend the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit, which will be held to mark the 20th anniversary of relations between India and the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. "He is also scheduled to attend the Indonesian Students Association (PPI) world conference in New Delhi," Faizasyah pointed out. President Yudhoyono is scheduled to return to Jakarta on December 21.
