MINING CONFERENCE RUNS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A scientific conference about the mining and its development ran December 25. It has been organized for the second time, now being dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the mining sector in Mongolia. The gathered agreed that this sphere's matters must be viewed under different angle nowadays because a situation around it is changing. An engineer and academician P.Ochirbat said that a present situation in Mongolian mining is at a level of concentrating factory, the final products are still concentrate, unrefined gold, and copper cathode of small size, so the next steps should be an establishment of a metallurgy industry, which refines gold and copper, a processing of ore and a production of value-added products." He added that a development of the energy sphere must be put as a priority, and regretted that Mongolia has become an importer of the energy despite of its own various energy sources, "and this situation will hinder us in developing the metallurgy." Then the gathered shared views on the possibilities of establishing the mining-related human and products stock markets, on an effect of the natural resources on society, and on equipment which extracts fuel from brown coal.
