FM: Azerbaijani-Turkish relations are at high level

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec.30 / Trend, A.Taghiyeva /
Azerbaijani-Turkish relations are at a high level today, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said in an interview with Azerbaijani and foreign media outlets on Sunday.
According to Mammadyarov, Azerbaijan and Turkey share historic ties, and after Azerbaijan gained its independence, the relations between the two countries have been enhancing, strengthening and deepening.
"We are pleased that the joint large-scale projects between Azerbaijan and Turkey drew together the two countries' people," Mammadyarov underlined.
He said Azerbaijan and Turkey support each other at the regional and international levels, and act in coordination while pursuing foreign policy.
Political will, demonstrated by both countries' leadership, as well as all above-mentioned facts are the main focus on deepening the strategic cooperation between the two countries, Mammadyarov said.
"As is known, the countries established the Strategic Cooperation Council at the highest level on Sept.15, 2010. Today the fulfillment of the provisions that have been coordinated in the statement of the Strategic Cooperation Council is a priority for both countries," Mammadyarov said.
He said the Council has already held its meetings in Izmir and Gabala, and now the activity to expand and diversify partnership continues.
"I also want to note that the agreement on the implementation of the TANAP project once again indicates that the two countries have great potential for joint activities," Mammadyarov said.
