N SUMATRA PROVINCIAL LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY CHAIRMAN OFFICIALLY SUSPENDED
Medan, Oct 28 (ANTARA) - H Abdul Wahab Dalimunthe was officially suspended from his position as chairman of the North Sumatra Provincial Legislative Assembly (DPRD) on Tuesday.
The suspension was announced at a DPRD plenary session chaired by its the assembly's vice chairman, Hasbullah Hadi.
"With the agreement reached at this plenary session to suspend Wahab Dalimunthe, we are going to report it to Home Affairs Minister Madiyanto," Hasbullah said.
Hasbullah said the suspension of Abdul Wahab Dalimunthe of the Golkar Party was effective October 14, 2008 following the latter's decision to become a legislative candidate from the Democrat Party in the upcoming general election.
The senior Golkar politician was Central Tapanuli district head from 1084-1989, North Sumatra provincial administration secretary from 1998-2003, and Golkar Party's regional executive board chairman before he was suspended.
Hasbullah said one of two members of the Golkar Party faction in the DPRD, namely Aziz Angkat or Zaman Gomo Mendrofa, would be elected to replace Dalimunthe.
