German Economic Minister To Visit Indonesia

Jakarta, Jan 7 (ANTARA) - German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Dirk Niebel will visit Indonesia on January 8-12, German Ambassador to Indonesia Georg Witschel said in an interview here on Monday. Minister Niebel during his visit in Indonesia will meet with Chairman of National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Armida Alisjahbana, Chairman of the Presidential Working Unit for Supervision and Development Management (UKP4) Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan and Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo. "Apart from meeting with government officials, Minister Niebel is scheduled to visit two project locations namely vocational school in Solo (Central Java province) and geothermal site in Manado (North Sulawesi) where both projects are supported by the German government," he said. The project in Solo is part of cooperation between German government and Indonesia`s Ministry of Education. The project aims to provide training to students of vational schools in Solo city with the hope to improve students` employability in the future. "We provide advisory and financial support towards Indonesian government`s program of improving the quality of vocational school students in Solo. The program is expected to help improve students` skills (both theory and practice) that allow them to find employment," Deputy Country Director of German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Ralf Sanftenberg said.
