Asean Foundation Chief Meet Cambodian Representative

Jakarta, Jan 9 (ANTARA) - The ASEAN Foundation Executive Director, Dr. Makarim Wibisono, met with the Cambodian Permanent Representative to ASEAN, Ambassador Kan Pharidh, here. Dr. Makarim Wibisono used the opportunity to express his support over the appointment of Cambodia as Chair of the ASEAN Foundation Board of Trustees last December 2012, the ASEAN Foundation said in a statement here Wednesday. Ambassador Kan Pharidh will assume his chairmanship for a period of one year. Dr. Makarim Wibisono and Ambassador Kan Pharidh on the occasion also exchanged views on the preparation for the recruitment of the new Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation. Ambassador Kan Pharidh, who has been appointed to also serve as Chair of the Selection Committee of the recruitment of the new Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation, highlighted the importance of early commencement of the recruitment process in order to attract as many qualified candidates as possible. Dr. Makarim Wibisono and Ambassador Kan Pharidh have committed to coordinate the details of the recruitment process together with the Selection Committee, who comprises of appointed representatives from the ASEAN Member States. One issue to be brought to the first Selection Committee Meeting, it was said, was guidelines on the recruitment, including interview mechanism and vacancy announcement. Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation is appointed for a three-year term. The new Executive Director will take up the post in mid January 2014.
