Lebanese MP Lauds Iran’s Six-point Peace Plan For Syria

Beirut, Jan 17, IRNA – Lebanese Member of Parliament and head Future Movement branch Fouad Siniora hailed as positive Iran’s six-point peace plan to solve crisis in Syria. In a meeting with the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi, he stressed the need for cessation of clashes and bloodshed in Syria. The Iranian ambassador outlined different aspects of Iran’s peace plan to settle the crisis in Syria which is in line with the initiative proposed by the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Roknabadi said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is concerned about negative impacts of Syrian crisis on Lebanon. The ambassador said that due attention must be paid to the issue of the presence of Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and cross-border movements of the terrorists involved in sabotage in Syria may spread to Lebanon. Roknabadi reaffirmed Iranian support for national sovereignty, stability and security of Lebanon. The former Lebanese premier pointed to Iran’s important position in the Middle East and appreciated Iran’s efforts to stop spread of Syrian crisis into Lebanon. Siniora pointed to the threats posed by armed rebellion in the region and stressed the importance of fostering ties between Iran and Lebanon./end
